Guests can enjoy pizza at Coastal Slice or try a sandwich or hot dog at Beach Buns. The zone also features the Marina Bar, designed with nautical inspiration and comfortable lounge seating inside or outside by the sea. The new Carnival Jubilee will become the third and final vessel in Carnival’s XL Class. Made up of the largest ships in the fleet, the class also includes the 2020-built Mardi Gras and the 2022-built Carnival Celebration. Completing Carnival Cruise Line’s XL Class, the LNG-powered vessel will offer new features, in addition to bringing back several attractions of its sister ships Mardi Gras and Carnival Celebration.

Cruise News Update

The bar — along with several other dining venues and the onboard shops — wasn't open during my two-night sailing prior to the ship's first voyage with paying passengers. But each time I passed by it in Grand Central, one of the ship's six zones, I couldn't help staring. In the last months, the cruise line has improved bandwidth by nearly 50%, while ensuring that guests can stay connected throughout the vessels. Onboard all Carnival cruise ships, the company has been busy installing more WiFi access points and has brought in multiple satellite providers to remain flexible when usage spikes. The announcement was disappointing for many, with a huge variety of cruises sailing to these destinations. Carnival Cruise Line guests and travel advisor partners were notified Wednesday of cancellations for additional sailings as it works toward plans for a possible July restart in the U.S. on select ships.

Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings Orders 8 New Ships for 3 Brands from Fincantieri

Serving as the centerpiece of the ship’s top deck, the rollercoaster features all-electric, motorcycle-inspired vehicles that race along the 800-foot-long track, 187 feet above the sea achieving speeds of up to 40 miles per hour. Located on Deck 8, The Shores is a zone inspired by the ways people enjoy the seaside including piers, boardwalks and beaches. Currents, encompassing Deck 6 and Deck 7, is described by Carnival as an “awe-inspiring” transformative space that “takes guests below the waves with a playful vibe,” featuring innovative technology and live music as well as new bar and dining venues. According to Carnival, the areas were inspired by the ocean and the shores, and feature a selection of “fun, unique and immersive” experiences, with new venues that include the Dr.Inks Ph.D bar, The Golden Mermaid lounge, and the Coastal Slice pizza bar. It was not immediately clear if Carnival plans to sail test cruises with volunteer passengers or full sailings with paying customers, the latter of which have more stringent vaccination requirements. Carnival ships feature accessible elevators, and accessible routes in most parts of the ship for guests with disabilities, among other accommodations, according to its website.

Among the new venues in Currents is Dr.Inks, Ph.D, a bar adorned with eight crafty octopus arms that serves unique ocean-themed drinks, and the Golden Mermaid, a cocktail lounge that is home to a mysterious mermaid and offers live music. When passengers step into Currents, they will be transported to “mesmerizing underwater worlds,” the company added, in a space that changes from day to night and throughout the cruise. On Tuesday, Royal Caribbean International was the first cruise line to receive approval to launch test sailing in U.S. waters.

Previously only available to book onboard, the guest-favorite Behind the Fun tour will be available to be booked pre-cruise beginning January 1. Cabins in this section of the ship come in several configurations to suit different needs, and they include access to a dedicated lounge, allowing families to spend time together over snacks, drinks and even board games.

Upon debuting, the Carnival Jubilee is set to sail from the Port of Galveston on a year-round basis. Starting in December, the LNG-powered vessel will offer regular week-long cruises to the Western Caribbean. All the signature features from the XL Class are also making a return onboard the Carnival Jubilee, including the BOLT Ultimate Sea Coaster. According to Carnival, the venue incorporates playful designs, including a Ferris wheel- inspired ceiling feature, and casual seating areas, both inside and outside.

Cruise Fan Builds Massive LEGO Carnival Ship Model

When I finally went back to my cabin at the end of the night, I was amused to find I had Pop Rocks stuck in my hair. However, the massively creative options on the menus at both the Golden Mermaid and Dr.Inks, Ph.D. bars are absolutely worth a shoutout. I stayed in an Ocean Suite (a type of mini-suite), and I was thoroughly impressed by the amount of storage space, which would have been more than adequate for the four people my room could accommodate. I was also floored to discover ample electrical outlets, including at least one USB port near every bed in the room — including the bunk that pulled down from overhead. These are great examples of how Carnival has paid attention to passenger preferences.

Carnival Cruise Line receives OK from CDC on port plans for Florida, Texas cruises

news about carnival cruise

It starts with The Atlantic and The Pacific, the names of Carnival Jubilee's two main dining rooms. They feature light fixtures befitting the Great Hall at Hogwarts Castle and look as if they contain water bubbles. Carnival Horizon will sail from Miami, and Carnival Vista and Breeze will sail from Galveston, according to the statement. The three ships are set to be the first Carnival ships to carry guests as the line plans to return to service this July. CDC guidelines say home ports must agree to support cruise operators with additional public health and operational resources before their ships can move forward with either test cruises or full guest operations. Sailing from Galveston, the XL-Class vessel is offering a series of week-long cruises to the Western Caribbean.

Already Three Million Guests

The full-scale event wasn't offered during my sailing, but I'm giving the line points for both creativity and interactivity, as well as for recognizing how much its Texas audience values American football culture. Although some of Carnival's nighttime song-and-dance theater shows can feel a bit dated, cheesy and lackluster, that isn't the case on Carnival Jubilee. If you're hungry, grab a bite at for-fee seafood eatery Emeril's Bistro 717, with a menu created by celebrity chef Emeril Lagasse.

The ship is also Carnival's second vessel powered by cleaner-burning liquefied natural gas. With the launch of its newest ship, Carnival Cruise Line is looking toward the future while also embracing the company's past. The cruise operator now expects full-year adjusted profit per share of 98 cents, compared with its prior forecast of 93 cents. Analysts on average were expecting a profit of $1 per share, according to LSEG data. The cruise operator raised the expected impact of the Red Sea disruptions to $0.09 per share from the $0.07 to $0.08 it had estimated in January. Bookings for the rest of 2024 remain the best year on record with total customer deposits reaching $7 billion in the first quarter, the company said.

Celebration will sail year-round Eastern and Western Caribbean itineraries from Miami, visiting destinations such as San Juan, Puerto Rico, and Grand Turk, according to a news release. Carnival Cruise Line released some exciting news about the two vessels currently under construction in Germany and Finland. Two Carnival Cruise ships had to take action over the weekend when they spotted boats with refugees at sea. Carnival Paradise and Carnival Sunrise performed rescue operations when the ships spotted small boats with refugees in the Florida Straits. The 4,000-guest ship continued on its voyage, a 7-night Eastern Caribbean cruise that is due to conclude in Port Canaveral on April 20, 2024.

Because Carnival Jubilee's homeport is in Galveston, you'll find nods to the Lone Star State throughout the ship, including on the ship's hull where there's a star — something no other vessel in the fleet has. Another offering is the tailgate party with games, dancing and prizes, where passengers can pretend they're getting ready to cheer on the fictitious Carnival University football team. In addition to the vintage references, a well-executed ocean theme is carried throughout the ship.

"The first quarter has been fantastic across the board," CEO Josh Weinstein said on a post-earnings call. "We delivered record bookings and record customer deposits again this quarter, a great start to the year." Magnetic hooks can be used for storing bags, hats, and other items, but should only be attached to cabin walls or doors, and never to the ceiling. Reservations already booked in specialty restaurants across the fleet are unaffected by the new policy.

Also, the boat that's positioned as a photo spot in the new Jubilee's The Shores zone bears the original Jubilee's hull number, 0717, as the fake registration number on its hull. Currently sailing for Costa Cruises, the Carnival Firenze will bring the product – which combines Carnival’s signature experiences with an Italian atmosphere – to the West Coast starting in April. In late 2023, Carnival Cruise Line announced a series of enhancements to its product and onboard experience for 2024. Carnival Cruise Line Updates Passengers on Possible Plan to Sail From Select Ports

With more than 95,000 guests sailing onboard Carnival Cruise ships per week in the last 75 days, Carnival Cruise Line has already welcomed more than 3 million guests since the restart in July of 2021. The cruise line will automatically cancel existing main dining room reservations already booked for cruises departing after September 14, 2024, except for those on Sun Princess, the line’s newest ship. The video does not confirm which cruise ship the guest was sailing on, but it is a Carnival Cruise Line vessel.

What will Carnival Celebration be like on board?

With ships at 110% occupancy, and nearly all guests using devices in one way or another, upgrades were necessary. In May this year, the cruise line reached the two million mark, expanding on this number quickly to three million in July. With some ships sailing at 110% occupancy due to the Caribbean summer, the 23 ships sailing for the cruise line are certainly doing their share of bringing profitability back to Carnival. On July 30, just a day after the Carnival Sunrise’s rescue, the Carnival Paradise spotted another small boat, overloaded with approximately 20 refugees, while sailing close to the Cuban coastline. Following maritime law, the vessel took the people aboard and notified the appropriate authorities.

While the date of the filming is unknown, one clue is found in the price of the 1.5-liter bottle. The video shows the price as $4.25, but the line raised the cost of that size bottle to $4.50 in December 2023, so presumably, the tampering happened sometime before then. Carnival Cruise Line is offering all travelers on this one sailing of Carnival Pride a $100 (USD) onboard credit per stateroom to ease the tension and “start your journey on the right foot” regardless of where the ship may disembark. What's nice about Carnival's newer ships is that they offer a choice of more cabin categories than the line's older vessels. On Carnival Jubilee, options include inside cabins, outside rooms with windows, balcony accommodations and mini-suites, which are basically larger balcony cabins that have more closet space and can sleep up to four people. The following day, Celebrity Cruises – a subsidiary of Royal Caribbean Group – announced that it was the first cruise line to receive CDC approval to sail ships with paying passengers on board.

In addition to three full days at sea, Jubilee’s regular itinerary features visits to Costa Maya and Cozumel, in Mexico, and Mahogany Bay, in Honduras. Like other cruise lines, Disney Cruise Line’s policy prohibits a guest from sailing if she is more than 23 weeks pregnant due to the ship’s lack of specialized prenatal and newborn care. The cruise line will designate separate dining room areas for each of the three options aboard every ship in the fleet, besides Coral Princess and Island Princess.

Please view our advertising policy and product review methodology for more information. On most vessels, the burger counter is positioned on the Lido Deck, adjacent to the BlueIguana Cantina, which serves tacos and burritos. On Mardi Gras, Carnival Celebration and Carnival Jubilee, though, it's one deck above. It's a minor gripe, but it feels like you're going out of your way to trek up a deck to grab a burger.

In their downtime, the crew was encouraged to attend the evening theater shows to cheer on the entertainment staff, who had been rehearsing diligently to fine-tune their performances. Crew members were also invited to test the vessel's top-deck activities, including the ropes course and the Bolt roller coaster. "Dear Future Husband" isn't the only interactive entertainment you'll find on board. Another is the Lone Star Tailgate, a three-hour pool deck event in tribute to the ship's Texas home port. The regular battery of daily programming — trivia, game shows, pool games, etc. — also wasn't offered since there were no passengers. In other words, this wasn't a typical sailing, so my account is limited to the aspects of the ship I could experience.

When cruise ships are in Texas waters, the onboard bars are only allowed to serve alcohol that was obtained in Texas. That means the types of alcohol available could be limited when Carnival Jubilee (or any other ship) is in port. If you're loyal to a particular brand of vodka, for example, you might have to switch things up and try some Tito's if you're hankering for a tipple before you set sail. I knew there was a reason I was drawn to the Center Stage Bar on Carnival Jubilee, Carnival Cruise Line's newest ship and the third in the Excel Class.

For the moment, there are no changes to the ship’s itinerary and the plan remains for debarkation in Baltimore, Maryland as scheduled, though the cruise line will stay in close communication with booked guests in case of updates. The ship, Carnival Miracle, was on a 15-day journey, departing Long Beach, California, on April 6, according to Carnival Cruise Line. If the cruise line can find a solution to allow cruise ships to visit Alaska, the Carnival Miracle will assume some of Carnival Freedom’s departures from Seattle. Emeril’s specially designed cooking class at the Carnival Culinary Center will debut on Carnival Jubilee as part of the ship’s Carnival Kitchen programming.

However, cost improvements of more than $250 million are being offset by the $130 million hit from re-routing ships in the Red Sea region, higher fuel prices, and currency exchange rates, CFO David Bernstein said. Cruise operators are recording all-time high booking rates as more travelers switch to cheaper sea-borne experiences over expensive land-based alternatives such as booking hotels or flights, providing them more room to raise prices. More than enough reason for Carnival’s president to celebrate the ceremony in true Texas style. A Coast Guard MH-60T Jayhawk helicopter and an HC-144 Ocean Sentry aircraft were dispatched to the scene to handle the evacuation of the guest and the ship’s doctor. The dramatic evacuation of an expectant mother sailing aboard Disney Cruise Line’s Disney Fantasy was expertly completed by the United States Coast Guard (USCG) on April 15, 2024. Heald noted that guests who suffer from sleep apnea and rely on CPAP (continuous positive airway pressure) machines are allowed to use magnets to position the CPAP cords across the ceiling, so guests don’t trip over them.

Carnival Cruise Line President Christine Duffy received the Cruise Lines International Association’s Lifetime Achievement Award for 2024 for her contributions to cruise travel. The new feature is available now on Carnival Conquest, Carnival Elation, Carnival Sunrise, Carnival Dream, and Mardi Gras. The cruise line shared in a press release that it’s targeting a rollout to the rest of the fleet by February. Mardi Gras, Carnival Celebration, and Carnival Panorama also feature Carnival Kitchen, and the cruise line has hinted that the cooking class will be rolled out on these ships as well.
